What is post-surgery care and why is it important?

Almost 1 in 5 seniors discharged from the hospital are re-admitted within a month. Ensuring that your loved one’s transition from hospital to home care is as smooth as possible helps them to have a holistic recovery process.

In addition, after being discharged from the hospital, individuals will often still need support with daily living activities, wound care, and pain management.

As part of your loved one’s post-surgery care plan, our trained Care Pros can help your loved one stay comfortable and clean, prepare nutritious meals, assist with wound care and management, and more as they help your loved one return to their usual daily living activities.

Reviews from Our Customers

Patient and professional caregivers

Homage responded quickly to my request to help my mother who had been discharged from the hospital recently. My helper and I were unable to manage at home and I was out of my wits how best to cater to my mother. I was impressed by the promptness and politeness in the service by Homage. The caregivers were cheerful in disposition and patient with my mother who was feeling anxious to get better. We were fortunate to have experienced help and I felt relieved to know my family was in good hands.”

Hassle-free post-surgery care

“Gillian was very helpful in sharing information about their services as it was my first time having to opt for caregivers to assist my elderly mom who just had a surgery. Caregiver, Serene Kho is extremely warm and hearty when she met us and my mom was very comfortable with her. She was meticulous and gave great companionship to my mom during the 5hrs she was here. Highly recommended Homage to anyone who needs an extra hand or just to head out for a breather while caring for our loved ones.”

Support with showering after operation

I recently fractured my ankle and had a surgery. And I am glad I am living in 2022 where there are apps such as Homage, where I can look for a caretaker to help me to shower and help cover my cast. They sent me a super nice and helpful caretaker and I can’t imagine if such an app does not exist during such situations. Love the customer call centre too, they are super helpful and super quick in helping me with questions to date changes. Kudos for creating such helpful app.

What are the benefits of professional post-surgery care?

Post-surgery care can be a win-win for both you and your loved one.

Just like your loved one, you deserve and need the same care and support for your well-being. Engaging post-surgery allows you to have peace of mind and maintain your own physical and mental health, while your loved one receives safe, professional care from caregivers, nurses, and therapists.

Does Homage have post-surgery care packages?

We have interim to longer-term post-surgery packages with varying care durations so that you and your loved one can find one which best fits your needs and preferences. Our care packages can also help you to save up to 20% for multiple care sessions. Reach out to our Care Advisors at 6100 0055 for more details.

Are there subsidies for engaging Homage’s post-surgery care services?

Yes, you can apply for financial subsidies under the Home Caregiving Grant to defray the cost of engaging in post-surgery care. Learn more about the eligibility criteria and application process via the Agency for Integrated Care website.

How quickly can I receive post-surgery care support?

We aim to match a Care Pro to your requested visit within 2-3 days. For bookings made 1-2 days before the visit date, we will try our best to match a Care Pro.

How long can I engage post-surgery care for?

Most families engage our care for the first few weeks after the surgery, as this would be the period in which more intensive wound care and pain management would be required.

However, each care recipient and each family’s needs would differ, depending on the extent of the surgical wound, the rate of healing, and your loved one’s health condition and recovery status.

What is the minimum duration for a care visit?

The duration of a visit by a Homage Care Pro starts from just one hour. You can select your visit duration depending on your family’s preferences and your loved one’s needs.

Does Homage provide 24-hour post-surgery care?

Yes, we do provide 24-hour care services at home. Two Homage Care Professionals will be scheduled for the visits, and care will be split into 12-hour shifts to support you and your loved one round-the-clock each day.

Can 1 caregiver care for 2 care recipients at the same time?

To ensure your loved ones receive undivided attention and care, each care recipient will be matched to a dedicated caregiver who fits their needs and preferences. If there are 2 people in the same home who need care, a caregiver will be present to care for each recipient respectively.
