Homage Partners With South West Community Development Council to Provide Job and Training Opportunities for Residents

by Team Homage

At this year’s SkillsFuture Festival @ South West, South West Community Development Council (CDC) introduced the South West Learn on the Job programme. This tripartite programme aims to help 120 vulnerable residents aged 40 and above who are looking for job and training opportunities.

The programme consists of:

1. Placement & Coaching Partner: Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) to provide assessment for training and employment assistance, and career coaching to promote job-readiness.

2. Training & Employment Partners: Provision of pro bono or concessionary-rated training and employment opportunities upon completion of training.

3. Community Partners: South West Community Development Council (CDC) and grassroots and community organisations to identify eligible residents, equip residents with SkillsFuture-related information through SkillsFuture Advice Workshops, and provide transport subsidies and employment incentive.

Homage partners with South West CDC as a Training and Employment Partner to provide training and job opportunities for residents.

Through this partnership, South West residents eligible for the programme will be able to pick up new skills via concessionary-rated training with Homage. After completing the training, Homage provides flexible employment opportunities for the residents to join as a Care Pro. This is ideal for residents who are looking for jobs with a flexible schedule so that they can manage other responsibilities in their lives as well.

Under the Transport Assistance Scheme, residents will also enjoy travel subsidies to cover their expenses attending job trainings and interviews.

South West CDC will be referring suitable residents to Homage for training and employment opportunities. After completing a face-to-face interview and health screening, residents will undergo relevant caregiving training. Residents will be able to attend trainings at a concessionary rate, of which the full cost will be reimbursed after they complete a fixed number of hours as a Care Pro.

With this partnership, we hope to benefit not just our care recipients, but also aspiring Care Pros as well. By providing training and flexible job opportunities, we aim to provide vulnerable residents with a channel to upskill, improve their employability and equip them with the ability to reach out and help others who need care in the community.
